Boise, ID (5/16/17)— The Idaho Steelheads released their regular-season schedule for the 2017-18 campaign on Tuesday, the 21st season of Steelheads hockey and the 15th in the ECHL. The Steelheads will open the season at CenturyLink Arena on October 13th with a four-game home stand and the first ever visit to Boise by the Norfolk Admirals.

Once again this season, Steelheads home games at CenturyLink Arena will all be held on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday nights, with puck-drop for all home games scheduled for 7:10pm. The Steelheads will face the Utah Grizzlies more than any other opponent and will play 52 games against teams that were in the Mountain Division last season :

  • 15 games vs. Utah Grizzlies (8 games at CenturyLink Arena)
  • 13 games vs. the Rapid City Rush (4 games at CenturyLink Arena)
  • 12 games vs. the Colorado Eagles (6 games at CenturyLink Arena)
  • 10 games vs. the Allen Americans (6 games at CenturyLink Arena)
  • 2 games vs. the Kansas City Mavericks (Both at CenturyLink Arena)

The season-opening home stand features contests against the Admirals on October 13th and 14th, followed by two games against the Grizzlies on October 18th and 20th. This season marks the first time since the 2009-10 season that the Steelheads will begin the season against a team outside of their division, and the first time they begin the season against a team outside the Western Conference.

The Steelheads finish the season on April 7th on the road in Allen, completing a three game trip with one game against the Tulsa Oilers and two against the Americans.

Like the Admirals, the Wichita Thunder will also be making their first ever trip to Boise on December 15th and 16th. Idaho will also visit the Thunder on March 2nd and 3rd, the team’s second trip to Wichita and first since February 2016.

The Steelheads will face two opponents for the first time, visiting the Quad City Mallards on October 27th and 28th and hosting the Kalamazoo Wings for three games from January 10th through the 13th. The Steelheads visit the South Carolina Stingrays for the first time since January of 2013, playing two games on March 15th and 16th in North Charleston on a trip that will begin with a single contest in Atlanta against the Gladiators.

The Steelheads’ longest home stand will be a six-game stay in Boise from November 22nd to December 2nd, featuring games against the Americans and Oilers. Idaho will also have three five-game home stands from December 8th to December 16th, January 5th to January 13th, and March 21st to March 31st.

Idaho will face two six-game road trips, a trek from Tulsa to Colorado to Utah between January 19th and January 31st and a trip from Utah to Rapid City to Wichita between February 19th and March 3rd.

The Steelheads will also face the Colorado Eagles six consecutive times this season, with three games at Budweiser Events Center followed by three games in Boise in February. That extended series will include a Valentine’s Day game at CenturyLink Arena.
