Scoran also played with the Steelheads during its West Division Semi-Finals run, making his playoff debut April 11, 2006 in a 1-0 double-overtime win at Las Vegas.

Derek Laxdal, Steelheads head coach and director of hockey operations said, “Kory is an all around defenseman with great size, who will improve as the year progresses. I was impressed with him last spring and I’m glad to have him back.”

In his last season (2005-06) with the Black Bears, Hopson played in 39 games, scoring 10 goals with 14 assists. Laxdal said of Hopson, "John comes from a proven hockey hotbed which the Idaho Steelheads have recruited from in the past -Maine Black Bears NCAA. He’s a big left winger who will bring skill and toughness to the Steelheads."

Both Scoran and Hopson will attend the Iowa Stars Training Camp this fall to prepare for the upcoming season.
