Play of the Game

Tonight’s play of the game is essentially a series of unsung, unheralded plays that made a difference in the game. With the importance of special teams in today’s brand of hockey, teams have to be good on the penalty kill. As they always say, your best penalty killer is your netminder. Tonight, Rejean Beauchemin weathered the storm for 13- that’s right, thirteen- Phoenix power plays. The play started between the pipes in a game that was filled with man-advantages for one side, and the other. Beauchemin was not highlighted as one of the three stars, but was a true difference-maker this evening.

The Idaho Steelheads (27-16-3) never trailed in tonight’s 4-2 win over the Phoenix RoadRunners (21-23-3) in front of 4,965 fans at Qwest Arena.
