The Idaho Steelheads (27-16-3) never trailed in tonight’s 4-2 win over the Phoenix RoadRunners (21-23-3) in front of 4,965 fans at Qwest Arena.
Garett Bembridge opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal, his 13th of the year, at 4:07 of the first period. Darrell Hay and Bryan McGregor tallied the assists. John McNabb answered back for the RoadRunners about ten minutes later, however, with assists going to Kimbi Daniels and Merit Waldrop. The score was tied 1-1, but that was as close to the lead as Phoenix would be all evening.
Mark Bomersback scored his 15th of the season at 18:07 of the first period, with assists going to Marty Flichel and Bryan McGregor to make the score 2-1 heading into the first intermission.
The second period yielded only one goal, as Ben Nelson scored his 19th of the season on the power play, with McGregor adding the assist.

Bryan McGregor and the Idaho special teams units were the difference as the Steelheads emerged with a 4-2 victory in front of 4,965 fans Saturday at Qwest Arena.
McGregor had a goal and three assists for the Steelheads (27-16-3), who scored three of their four goals in odd-man situations.
