Defenseman Jeff King Rejoins Steelheads

BOISE, Idaho – Defenseman Jeff King has agreed to terms with the Idaho Steelheads for the 2020-21 season, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Everett Sheen announced Thursday.

King, 24, played in 43 games with the Steelheads during the 2019-20 season, tallying 6 goals and 16 assists for a team-leading 22 points among defenseman.

“We are very pleased to have Jeff join us again for his third season in the Treasure Valley,” said Steelheads Head Coach Everett Sheen. “His mobility and offensive instincts are a huge asset for our D core. We look forward to him having a big season once again in a Steelheads jersey.”

The St. Clair, Michigan native made his debut with the Steelheads on October 19, 2018 after being acquired from the Fort Wayne Komets via trade. Through 114 games in a Steelheads uniform King has posted 12 goals and 41 assists for 53 points.

“I’m excited to get back to Idaho and pick up where we left off of last season,” said King. “I think we have been headed in the right direction the last two years and am eager to continue that trend.”

Prior to his professional career, King spent four seasons with the Sarnia Sting (OHL), finishing his junior career with 56 points (14 goals, 42 assists) through 66 games in 2016-17 while setting career-highs in all categories. Over his four seasons, he posted 26 goals and 105 assists for 131 points with a plus-24 rating through 250 games.

King is the second defenseman agreeing to terms for the 2020-21 campaign and sixth overall joining defenseman Evan Wardley and forwards A.J. White, Zach Walker, Will Merchant, and Colby McCauley. Future announcements and signings will be announced throughout the summer.
