Athletic competition does not just build an athlete, it builds character. By learning the rules and regulations of a sport, you can learn to play the game. But what is taken away from the game is an understanding of team building, fair play, hard work and always most importantly, FUN! That is what matters in the end.
Sports take you through many ebbs and flows, just like the game of life does. What is taken away from the experience of competition is a sense of completion and pride. An understanding of how to work in a group, may it be on the field, in the classroom or in a relationship. Athletics teach one to be fair and show respect. Respect must be earned in sports, and it is no different in the real world. Effort is a component needed in all sports in order to succeed – just as it is in life.
No matter the circumstance, always have fun. If you can have fun and smile, success is sure to come. So be a good sport, and follow blue’s guidelines to success!

Blue’s Fantastic 4:

Teamwork: Cooperative effort by the members of a group or team to achieve a common goal.
To succeed in sports and life, it is important to work well with others.
There is no “I” in TEAM!

Fairness: Consistent with rules, logic, or ethics.
It is important to show respect by playing fair.
Cheating in sports will not get you anywhere…Treat others how you would like to be treated – the Golden Rule.

Effort: The use of physical or mental energy to do something; exertion.
What you put into something is what you will get out of it.
The more effort, the better the results.
Take competition seriously, but most importantly…HAVE FUN!

Fun: A source of enjoyment, amusement, or pleasure.
The number one ingredient to success is to have fun!
Enjoy what you do and the results will show for it.
